Flea Control
Even the cleanest animals can have fleas! First of all, don't panic if you find or suspect your pet has fleas but do make sure that you treat your dog or cat, as fleas will irritate them and multiply very quickly.
Flea treatment
-
Treat both your pet and your home, as fleas can survive without a host for many months.
-
Visit your vet for advice on getting rid of your pet's fleas. They can prescribe something that will work quickly.
-
Clean bedding regularly and vacuum furniture, floors and skirting boards to help destroy fleas.
-
Throw away the dustbag from your vacuum after each.
-
Prevent fleas by using flea drops every 4-6 weeks.
House treatment
The most common method of treating a property for fleas is to spray with insecticide. Indorex is a very good one and lasts for 12 months. Before spraying you should:
-
Thoroughly clean, vacuum or sweep your premises prior to treatment
-
Cover or properly store all exposed foodstuffs
-
Ensure that all pets (cats, dogs, birds, etc) are removed from the areas to be treated and do not allow them back until the rooms have been ventilated
-
Remove or cover fish tanks
Unfortunately, if your pet has fleas, we will have no choice but to ask you to treat the infestation before they can be groomed.
